- Jackie Miller. Issue Position: Medical Insurance Reform. "No Federal Funding for Abortion. Simply put, many American taxpaying citizens have strong feelings about this issue. Although abortion is legal it should NOT be the taxpayer's burden either directly or indirectly to pay for a procedure that is highly offensive to many of us. If a woman chooses this option she and the father should bear the cost burden. This may seem harsh but, with all of the safe and effective means of birth control these days there is no good reason for an un-wanted pregnancy. Along those lines there should also no longer be any federal taxpayer funding directly or indirectly for "Planned Parenthood." Let the "private sector" donate if they wish. When elected I believe that we MUST revisit the disgusting and brutal act of partial birth abortion. If you ever talk to a senior citizen who lived through the "Great Depression" they believe our "Me, Me, Me" culture to be flat out WIMPY! TARP (Troubled Assets Relief Program) was a great big payoff to the "fat cats" on Wall Street and big banks. In a nutshell: Washington rewarded their bad behavior, and punished our good behavior! If stimulus money is utilized, the money needs to go to the place(s) where the most jobs can be created. That is the public sector, since government does not create any products, it just spends money. And with unemployment also comes lower taxable income which results in more money printed (inflation) and higher taxes on those who are still employed, or even retired. - Jackie Miller. Issue Position: Education Solutions. "Dismantle the Department of Education- President Ronald Reagan wanted to abolish the Dept of Education and referred to it as "The Blob." He recognized that "big government bureaucracies" are always the problem not the solution. Being the visionary President Reagan was he knew that the education bureaucracy would only become more bloated over time and hurt our children's level of education. It was not just Democrats who stood in his way Republicans turned out to be an even bigger enemy in ridding us of this monstrosity of red tape bureaucrats. Speaking with our teachers over the years one of their biggest complaints is spending more time on "government paperwork" than on meeting the needs of their students. Both teachers and those on the administrative end (too many on the admin end to be sure) have said that there is "Plenty of money, it is just spent unwisely." For fiscal year 2009 between regular appropriations and more added via the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act" the Dept. of Education has a budget of $161.4 BILLION of our tax dollars and our children are learning less! Fact, there is no conclusive proof that we are warming whether man made or nature made. Recently the Array for Real-time Geostrophic Oceanography, (ARGO) indicates that our ocean temperatures aren't actually warming. They are cooling! As a matter of fact there has actually been no real and significant warming since 1998! Proponents of "Cap and Trade" legislation will tout that NASA says the opposite. In short NASA has an agenda." They need ever increasing amounts of staff just to get through the mounds of paperwork involved in endless red tape with government bureaucracy, big health insurance companies, not too mention hiring and training of employees needed to understand the whole mess. Then there is the wasted time of employees simply attempting to find a hospital or other testing facility that will take whatever form of insurance we may have. Following we will present many do-able and viable solutions, as a Washington D. C. Socialized type of health care is just not the answer. Who of us in our right mind wants a government run health care system that offers the compassion of the IRS, the efficiency of the post office and the effectiveness of Katrina?
